rock the beat with your hands!

June 28th, 2008

well, i’ve got a new favourite drum machine. its called glitchDS and it rocks. its a homemade piece of software for the nintendo ds and you can get it here! it’s like having an MPC in your pocket! yay.

monome attack

June 20th, 2008

i had the pleasure of conducting a monome and reaktor workshop yesterday, but not to your usual tech nerds and electronica buffs. the crowd was mainly over 40’s japanese women who conduct a lovely english speaking class in fukai.

after disappointing by not being able to play waltzing matilda on the monome, i got serious and we all rocked the beats, big time. this is the thank you note i got after the session:

‘Hello,Kris.
Thank you for all your work for us.
We could know the new way of music closely.
The drum beat was so nice!’

Needless to say, it was a great day out.

In other news, red plum and snow mixing is going well, and the harp is proving as troublesome as ever.

work/ideas…

June 8th, 2008

yes, still working on the red plum & snow album (nearly half way there!), plus throwing around some big ideas to set up an ‘against the industry’ label/ditsro/booking/archive concept. more news soon, as things fall into place… there could be a blastcorp retrospective in there somewhere too…

boring…

May 19th, 2008

hi, i’ve been staring at protools for a month now. there’s some new blastcorp stuff here plus i’ve mixed 3 red plum & snow songs for the album. my head hurts. oh, and i have been outside, there’s a new video up in the japan adventures section to prove it.

mixing…

April 24th, 2008

well, it’s a funny world. i was right into making beats for a bit, but thats on the backburner temporarily as i’m busy mixing the debut album of my other band, red plum & snow. it’s an hours worth of sweet, soft songs and mountains of feedback! i’m also spending the mornings practicing harp and my spare time trying to work out how to get the extra $10,000 i need to buy my own harp…

check that mix!
